The beginning of a new month brings a fresh victim to the UFC's recent wave of roster cuts as Xavier Foupa-Pokam has been released by the promotion. Foupa-Pokam's agent, Ken Pavia confirmed the news with Five Ounces Of Pain today.
Foupa-Pokam earned a shot in the UFC after winning seven straight outside of the organization and then proceded to lose in his UFC debut to Denis Kang at UFC 97. He stepped up on short notice at last weekend's UFC 98 to face Drew McFedries but suffered a brutal TKO defeat just 37 seconds into the bout.
Foupa-Pokam has put together a 20-11 MMA record in seven years since his first professional bout in 2002. Beside the UFC he's fought for Jungle Fight, Cage Rage, PFC and DEEP.
