Middleweight Jay Silva has reportedly been released from the UFC after going 0-2 in his first two bouts with the promotion.
Silva joins lightweight Kyle Bradley as competitors who fought and lost at UFC Fight Night 20 to be cut from the promotion.
Silva opened his UFC career by suffering a hard fought unanimous decision loss to C.B. Dollaway at UFC Fight Night 19 in September. He went into his second UFC fight expecting a slugfest against brawler Chris Leben, however, Leben instead outgrappled Silva en route to a unanimous decision win at the aforementioned UFC Fight Night 20 event on Jan. 11.
Prior to coming to the UFC, Silva competed for other notable promotions such as Ring of Combat, Extreme Challenge, Call To Arms and Called Out MMA. He has put together a 5-3 MMA since turning pro in June 2008, scoring stoppages in all of his five career wins including four wins coming by TKO or KO. Silva holds notable career wins over the likes of Reggie Orr and Ray Lizama.
