Undefeated middleweight prospect Dave Branch, who is a Renzo Gracie black belt, has made the step up to the "Big leagues" of Mixed Martial Arts, signing a four-fight contract with the UFC.
Branch's coach Renzo Gracie announced the news over the weekend on his official Twitter account.
"Congrats to Renzo Gracie BB, Dave Branch for getting a 4 fight contract with UFC! Dave is the truth at 185! Website coming soon!!!," said Gracie in the post.
Branch is a two-time Bellator Fighting Championships veteran, going 2-0 with the upstart promotion, most recently scoring a standing rear-naked-choke submission win over Derrick Mehman at Bellator 15 on April 22.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native has put together a perfect 6-0 MMA record since making his pro debut in September 2007, scoring stoppage wins in all of his six victories including 3 by TKO. He holds other notable career wins over John Troyer, Dennis Olson, and Alex Aquino.
Besides his budding MMA career, Branch has competed in numerous Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitions, winning several of them. He has studied BJJ and and been a student under Renzo Gracie for almost 10 years.
