The Ultimate Fighter 10 debut episode breaks even bigger record
by Natalia Baage on October 11, 2009

The debut episode of "The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights" was reported to have been watched by 4.1 million viewers. This was a record-breaking number for Spike TV. However, with a week's worth of additional viewings from recording systems, the viewing total was pushed up to 4.5 million viewers.

Sept. 16 marked the premiere of TUF 10, which was highly-anticipated due to the addition of former EliteXC fighter Kimbo Slice.

The additional 400,000 viewings came from various recording systems like DVR and TIVO boxes. All of the viewing numbers and statistics were reported by Spike TV.

Prior to TUF 10 breaking the record for the most-viewed debut, TUF 3 held that title. TUF 3, which aired on April 6, 2006, with coaches Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock, pulled in a then-record of 2.8 million.
