A welterweight bout between former welterweight title contender Thiago Alves and Paulo Thiago is in discussions for the UFC 107 event, according to MMAjunkie.com.
Though not officially announced yet, UFC 107 is expected to take place on December 12 from the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. The event will be headlined by a light-heavyweight grudge-match between TUF 10 coaches and former UFC light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
Alves (16-5) is coming off a loss against UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100 in July. Prior to the loss, he had won seven straight including wins over the likes of Karo Parisyan, Matt Hughes and Josh Koscheck. Since entering the octagon for the first time in October 2005, Alves has put together a solid 9-3 record. Ten of his 16 career wins have been via TKO or KO and he holds a notable win outside the UFC over current UFC welterweight Marcus Davis.
Thiago (11-1) also fought at UFC 100 and was handed his first career loss by Jon Fitch at the July event. Prior to the loss, he'd won the first 11 bouts of his career, including a win in his UFC debut over Josh Koscheck at UFC 95. The Jungle Fight veteran has finished fighters in 9 of his 11 career wins.
