Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago may happen for UFC 107
by Natalia Baage on September 08, 2009

Thiago Alves is expected to fight Paulo Thiago at UFC 107 on Dec. 12.

Recently, MMAMania.com reported that negotiatins about Alves vs. Thiago are currently underway.  It has been said that one of the fighters has already verbally agreed to the bout.

The UFC 107 card has been through a lot of fight-shuffling, including the loss of a very highly-anticipated bout between TUF 10 coaches Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans.  The main event is currently slated to be a lightweight title fight between B.J. Penn and Diego Sanchez.  However, the card has yet to be officially announced.

Alves (16-5 MMA) is looking for a win and trying to rebound after his unanimous decision loss to welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 100.  Alves had won his seven straight fights prior to fighting St. Pierre, including impressive wins over Josh Koscheck, Matt Hughes, Karo Parisyan and Chris Lytle.

Paulo Thiago (11-1) is also coming off of a loss from UFC 100.  He was defeated by Jon Fitch via unanimous decision, which was his first MMA loss.  Like Alves, Thiago has also racked up a win over Koscheck.
