World Victory Road today announced three more bouts for it's Sengoku 10th battle event. The additions include a welterweight bout in Nick Thompson vs. Dan Hornbuckle, a middleweight tilt in Joe Doerksen vs. Takenori Sato and a light heavyweight bout in Ryo Kawamura vs. Fabio Silva.
Sengoku 10 will take place on September 23 at the Saitama Community Arena in Saitama, Japan, and will air on HDNET in North America. Former Elite XC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva is also expected to competed on the card as well as 2004 Olympic Judo silver medalist Hiroshi Izumi.
Thompson has put together a 14-2 record in his last 16 bouts, which includes wins over Paul Daley, Chris Wilson and Eddie Alvarez. He is looking to rebound from a loss against Tim Kennedy at June's Strikeforce Challenger Series event. Before he competes at Sengoku 10, Thompson will fight Karl Amoussou at M-1:"Breakthrough" later this month. Hornbuckle is also streaking, posting 17 wins in his last 18 bouts, with his lone loss coming against Mike Pyle at Sengoku 2. Since that loss, he has won three straight, with his most recent coming over UFC and Pride veteran Akihiro Gono at Sengoku 9 earlier this month.
Doerksen is on a three fight win streak, with his most recent win coming against Gregory Babene at Canadian Fighting Championships 2 in May. Prior to the streak, he had suffered three consecutive losses in the WEC and UFC. Deep and Pancrese veteran Sato is coming off a draw against Izuru Takeuchi at Pancrase: "Changing Tour 4" earlier this month, however, the draw counts as a loss for Sato, prior to which he had won four straight.
Silva and Kawamura previously fought at Pancrase: "Rising 5" in May, where Silva handed Kawamura his first career loss. Silva has struggled as of late, going 1-3 in his last four bouts and he hasn't fought since losing to Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal at Sengoku Sixth Battle last November. Kawamura is coming off a win over Yukiya Naito at Pancrase: "Changing Tour 3" in June. Since suffering his first career loss to Silva, he has gone 4-3.
