A middleweight bout between TUF 7 cast member Tim Credeur and the returning Mike Massenzio is in the works for the preliminary portion of UFC Fight Night 20. News of the bout was first reported by TheGarv.com.
Credeur (12-3) suffered his first loss in the UFC in his last bout as he was defeated by Nate Quarry via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 19 last month. Despite the loss, Credeur along with Quarry earned "Fight of the Night" honors for their exciting three round war.
Prior to his loss at UFN 19, Credeur had put together a six fight winning streak, including wins in his first three UFC fights over Nick Catone, Nate Loughran and Cale Yarbrough. During his eight year career, he has competed for other notable promotions such as Rage in the Cage, King of the Cage and Bodog Fight. Also of note, "Crazy" Tim has finished all 12 of his career wins including eight coming by submission.
Massenzio (11-3) just recently returned to training as he spent the majority of 2009 recuperating from neck and knee injuries. He hasn't fought since UFC 92 in December 2008, where he was defeated by CB Dollaway. Prior to the loss, he was victorious in his UFC debut defeating Drew McFedries via first round submission at UFC Fight Night 15 last September.
The longtime Reality Fighting and Ring of Combat veteran has scored stoppage victories in seven of his 11 career wins and holds notable career victories over the likes of Dante Rivera, Lance Everson and Dan Miller.
Though not officially announced, UFC Fight Night 20 will take place on Jan. 11 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia and the main card will be televised live on Spike TV. Headlining the event is a crucial lightweight tilt between Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz.
