"I have no more pain, no more soreness, no more numbness going down my legs; I'm back in to fighting shape again. I just started working with Freddie Roach out of Los Angeles, the ‘Wild Card,' and I'm excited. For once I'm gonna be 100 percent, and hopefully the fans get to the see the champion I was before, 'cause the last time I was 100 percent, when I was the world champion, and I defended my world title five consecutive times. So, this is a comeback for me... I gotta give the respect to Chuck Liddell, he was a great champion. Too bad he retired, a rematch with him would be nice, and I think the fans would love to see that."
-Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz talks about his health after taking time off from the sport and lobbies for another shot at fellow former champion Chuck Liddell. The two fought twice with Liddell winning both times in convincing fashion.
Ortiz (15-6-1) left the UFC in May of 2008 after a public PR battle with UFC President Dana White. Ortiz left the organization as one of its most popular fighters and flirted briefly with the idea of signing with other organizations before bringing his services back to the UFC. The time off has helped Ortiz to heal from various ailments including a bad back and he states that he hasn't felt this good in years.
Ortiz is currently rumored to face UFC hall-of-famer Mark Coleman at UFC 106 in November.
