Tito Ortiz is about to fight in one of the most significant bouts in his career by re-matching with light heavyweight contender, Rashad Evans.
A win can revitalize Ortiz's career and once again establish him as one of the best in the sport. Yet despite the gravity of his upcoming bout, Ortiz manages to find time out of his schedule to aid wounded soldiers on their path to recovery according to mmafighting.com
"Rehabbing with the Troops" is a non-profit program which Ortiz is a part of, allowing 10 service members to train with Ortiz at his Punishment Training Center for a week. All of the men have suffered severe injuries due to their deployment, Army veteran Chris Miller is among them; he suffered a traumatic brain injury while serving in Iraq.
Through the program, the potential of the troops are highlighted as Ortiz works hand in hand with them a part of their recovery. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, wrestling and cardio intensive workouts are just some of the activities conducted by Ortiz in his training camp with the servicemen.
Ortiz has had previous experience working with US soldiers before, by making numerous tours with the USO and Armed Forces Entertainment.
Ortiz is set to face Evans at UFC 133 on August 6, 2011 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The two fought to a draw in their first bout at UFC 73.
