The UFC today confirmed the previously reported heavyweight bout between undefeated American Top Team fighter Todd Duffee and Chicago cop Mike Russow for the preliminary portion of UFC 102's now complete 11-bout fight card.
Duffee signed with the UFC back in February and was suppose to fight Mustapha Al Turk at UFC 99: "The Comeback" on June 13 in Cologne, Germany. However, he was replaced in favor a returning Mirko Cro Cop and Duffee was pulled from the event all together.
Duffee is coming off an impressive win over UFC veteran Assuerio Silva at Jungle Fight 11 last September and is off to a 4-0 start to his young MMA career with all wins coming via stoppages.
The more experienced Mike Russow enters the UFC on a 7-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming against Braden Bice at Adrenaline MMA 2 this past December. Russow sports a superb MMA record of 11-1 with 10 of his wins coming by stoppages. He suffered his lone career loss against Sergei Kharitonov at Pride 33 and holds notable wins over the likes of Jason Guida, and M-1 and Pride veteran Roman Zentsov.
UFC 102 is scheduled to take place on August 29 at the Rose Center in Portland, Oregon, and will feature a heavyweight main event match up between MMA legends Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.
Also featured on the card will be a light heavyweight bout between Keith Jardine and Thiago Silva, as well as a crucial middleweight divisional matchup between Demian Maia and Nate Marquardt.
