Highly coveted light-heavyweight prospect Antwain Britt has been pulled off the free agent market by Strikeforce. Britt recently agreed to terms on a multi-fight contract with the promotion. News of Britt's signing was first reported by curtisandkyle.com.
It is not yet known when Britt will make his Strikeforce debut.
Strikeforce is making moves to bolster its once mediocre light-heavyweight division with the recent signings of Britt and two-time Olympian and U.S. 2008 Olympic team captain, Daniel Cormier. Britt and Cormier join the likes of Bobby Southworth, Mike Whitehead, Kevin Randleman, Renato "Babalu" Sobral and Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante as part of the burgeoning division, which is currently helmed by newly minted Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi.
In his young career, Britt has already established UFC ties as he was a cast member on the eighth season of the Ultimate Fighter. He actually earned a spot in the house by defeating Ryan Jimmo in the elimination bouts, but was sent home after it was revealed that he broke his hand in the fight against Jimmo.
Britt recently finished second in an eight-man tournament at Vendetta Fighting Championship: "A Night of Vengeance" on Sept. 5 in Aruba. In the tournament he won two tough decisions, one over UFC vet Carmelo Marrero, but lost in the final against Rodney Wallace.
"The Juggernaut" has put together an overall MMA record of 9-3 during his time in the sport, with 7 wins coming by TKO or KO and he holds notable wins over the likes of Wayne Cole and Antonio "Samuray" Mendes.
