Two bouts added to Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers"
by Jacob Camargo on October 07, 2009

Two preliminary card bouts have been added to the fast approaching Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Rogers" event. The additions include a welterweight bout between IFL veteran Mark Miller and Bellator veteran Deray Davis, as well as a battle between two Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belts: Christian Uflacker and Jonatas Novaes.

All four competitors recently signed with Strikeforce and will be making their debuts with the promotion at the event. News of the bouts was first reported by MMA FanHouse.com.

Miller (9-5) was most recently a castmember on season nine of The Ultimate Fighter reality series. He is riding a two-fight losing streak, with the losses coming against Jay Hieron and current UFC welterweight Mike Pierce at Sportfight 24 last September. Miller has finished seven of his nine career wins and he holds notable wins over current UFC fighters Josh Neer and Brad Blackburn.

Davis (5-1-1) suffered his first career loss in his most recent bout against Jesse Juarez at Bellator 6 in May. The longtime Corral Combat Classic veteran went unbeaten in his first six bouts prior to the loss, including a win against John Kuhner on a ShoXC card last October. Three of Davis' five career wins have come via stoppage.

Uflacker has not fought since defeating Mark Sinclair at TFC 13 in September 2008. He has posted a 2-0  record since entering MMA in 2008, winning both of the fights via rear-naked choke for the Total Fight Challenge promotion. Also of note, Uflacker is a seven-time state and a five-time national grappling champion from Brazil.

Novaes (4-2) has won four straight fights since opening his professional career after losing his first two bouts. He most recently scored two first round submission wins over Oleg Tokinov and Nilson Lopes in one night at a Next Generation Tournament event in March 2008 in Italy. The Cage Wars veteran has finished all but one of his four career wins by submission.

Strikeforce: Rogers vs. Emelianenko takes place on Nov. 7 from the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The event will be broadcast on CBS and will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between the top-ranked heavyweight fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, and undefeated up-and-comer, Brett Rogers.
