World Victory Road today added two more bouts to its Sengoku Ninth Battle, which will take place on August 2 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
The bouts include a lightweight contest between Eiji Mitsuoka and Clay French and a heavyweight bout between former PRIDE veterans Yoshihiro Nakao and Choi Mu Bae.
Nakao is currently 2-2 in his last four fights and was most recently defeated by former EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva in a bout in which Nakao tore his ACL. Nakao holds notable wins over Don Frye, Wesley Correira and Jim York, however, he may be best known for kissing Heath Herring in the staredown before their bout back in 2005, which caused Herring to knock him out before the fight even started.
Choi Mu Bae has won his last two fights with his most recent win coming over Katsuhisa Fujii earlier this month. Prior to that Bae scored an impressive second-round TKO win over talented U.S. prospect Dave Herman at Sengoku: "No Ran 2009" in January. Pride Veteran, Bae, sports a 9-3 MMA record, with 7 of his wins being by stoppages and he holds notable wins over UFC veterans Gary Goodridge and Soa Palelei.
Clay French has his back against the wall after losing three straight; his last loss coming against Mike Johnson in April. Prior to the losing streak, French strung together 8-straight wins over the likes of UFC veteran Mac Danzig, Pride Veteran Jason Ireland and WEC veteran Jameel Massouh.
Eiji Mitsuoka is 4-1 in his last 5 fights, with his most recent win over Sergey Golyaev at Sengoku: "No Ran 2009." Pride veteran, Mitsuoka, has finished 12 of his 15 career wins and he holds notable victories over the likes of UFC veterans Gleison Tibau and Brian Cobb, as well as Rodrigo Damm and Joachim Hansen.
Sengoku 9 also features a lightweight title fight between current champion Satoru Kitaoka and challenger Mizuto Hirota. Kazuo Misaki will also square off against Kazuhiro Nakamura to determine the next challenger for the promotion's middleweight champion, Jorge Santiago. World Victory Road's featherweight grand prix semifinal and finals will go down at the event as well.
