The UFC is planning on streaming Joe Stevenson vs. Danny Castillo and Cyrille Diabate vs. Steve Cantwell on Facebook prior to UFC on Versus 3, according to MMAJunkie.com.
The organization has routinely used Facebook to air additional fights since UFC Fight Night 23, when the promotion aired two fights on the social networking website. Since then fights have been aired online for both UFC 126 and UFC 127.
Joe Stevenson will enter the Octagon on a two-fight losing streak. Since he lost his shot at the lightweight title in January 2008, the winner of The Ultimate Fighter has posted a 2-4 record in the UFC. Another loss will surely put the lightweight on thin ice.
Castillo will be making his UFC debut after the WEC was absorbed into the larger promotion. Under the WEC banner Castillo racked up a 5-3 record, including two wins in a row. A win over Stevenson would undoubtedly bring some respect to both Castillo and the WEC lightweights.
In the other bout, Cyrille Diabate will look to get back to his winning ways after a submission loss to Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 120. It was his second fight in the UFC. In his debut Diabate was able recover from a poor start to TKO Luiz Cane.
Cantwell hasn't entered the Octagon since September 2009, when he lost to Brian Stann. At UFC 108 Cantwell was pulled from the card a mere days before the event. Dana White was quoted as saying that he may never fight again. Since then Cantwell has recovered from the undisclosed medical problems, and has been scheduled for fights at UFC 116 and UFC 120. Neither bout materialized.
UFC on Versus 3 will feature a welterweight showdown between Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann.
