Lightweight contenders Tyson Griffin and Jim Miller are in discussions to face each other at the UFC 108 in Jan. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.
Griffin (14-2) is 6-1 in his last seven fights, which includes two straight wins over Rafael dos Anjos and most recently over Hermes Franca at UFC 103 last month. His only defeat over the span came against Sean Sherk at UFC 90. Griffin has compiled at 7-2 record in nine fights with the UFC, scoring notable wins over Clay Guida, Thiago Tavares, Gleison Tibau, and Marcus Aurelio.
The Xtreme Couture product has also earned five "Fight of the Night" awards during his time with the UFC. Despite being known for going to decisions, he has finished nine of his 14 career wins. Griffin holds other notable career wins over Melchor Manibusan, Duane Ludwig, and Urijah Faber.
Miller (15-2) is also streaking as he is 9-1 in his last 10 bouts; a span which includes back-to-back wins over TUF 6 winner Mac Danzig at UFC 100 and Steve Lopez at UFC 103. His lone blemish during that streak came against Gray Maynard at UFC 96. Miller has put together a 4-1 UFC record, with other octagon wins over David Baron and Matt Wiman.
The Reality Fighting and Ring of Combat veteran has finished 11 of his 15 career wins and he holds other notable wins in his career over Muhsin Corbbrey, Chris Liguori and Bart Palaszewski.
Though not officially announced, UFC 108 is expected to take place on Jan. 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
The event is rumored to be headlined by a UFC middleweight title bout between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort. A light-heavyweight tilt between former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and American Top Team fighter Thiago Silva is also rumored to be in the works.
