The tickets for UFC 101 were made available to the public on Saturday and the event has reportedly sold over 10,000 tickets already. UFC 101 will be held on August 8 at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA.
UFC 101 will mark the UFC's first trip to the northeast since UFC 78 in November 2007, which was held in Newark, New Jersey. Rashad Evans defeated Michael Bisping in a light-heavyweight bout that headlined the event.
Several fighters from the region will be competing at UFC 101 including Brooklyn born Amir Sadollah, New York native and Hamilton, New Jersey resident Ricardo Almeida, lightweight Kurt Pellegrino of Point Pleasant, N.J., welterweight Matt Riddle, a native of Allentown, Pa., Courtland, N.Y.-based welterweight Tamdan McCrory and Dan Cramer from Danbury, Connecticut.
UFC 101 is headlined by a lightweight title fight between current champ BJ Penn and top contender Kenny Florian. In the co-main event, UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will once again make the trek up to light-heavyweight to fight TUF 1 light-heavyweight winner Forrest Griffin.
