UFC 106 competitors test clean

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Friday revealed the post-fight drug test results for 12 of the 20 fighters who competed on the UFC 106 fight card which took place on Nov. 21 at The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.

All drug tests came back clean and included the following fighters: UFC 106 main event fighters Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin as well as Josh Koscheck, Anthony Johnson, Amir Sadollah, Phil Baroni, Antonio Rogerio Nogueria, Ben Saunders, Paulo Thiago, Kendall Grove, Brian Foster and Caol Uno.

The above mentioned UFC 106 fighters were randomly selected. However, athletic commissions typically test the main event fighters and fight night winners, as well as those who have failed tests in the past.

The tests screen for as 'drugs of abuse' such as cocaine, marijuana and heroin as well as anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.

The UFC 106 main event saw Forrest Griffin get even with Tito Ortiz, scoring a close split decision win over Ortiz in their rematch. In the co-main event bout, welterweight contender Josh Koscheck scored an impressive second round submission win over Anthony Johnson. Koscheck took home two fight night bonuses for the win, "Submission of the night" and Fight of the Night"; totaling a combined $140,000

Also featured on the main card, Paulo Thiago scored a unanimous decision win over Jacob Volkman in welterweight action and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira made a success UFC debut by notching a first round TKO win over Luiz Cane, which earned him "Knockout of the Night". Also, TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah earned a unanimous decision win over Phil Baroni in the opening bout of the Pay-Per-View card.

The UFC 106 event drew an official attendance of 10,529 for a live gate of $3,003,250.
