UFC 107 weigh-in results

UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" is officially set to go down as all 22 participants competing on tomorrow night's event made weight earlier today from the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn. The event was broadcast live on via FiveKnuckles.com.

UFC 107 takes place tomorrow, on Dec. 12, at the same venue, and the event's main card will be televised on pay-per-view beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

However, things didn't go quite as planned for five of the 22 fighters, as all of them had to weigh-in at least twice and strip down to nothing but their birthday suits in order to make weight.

First, preliminary card fighter Edgar Garcia weighed in at 173 lbs, which is two pounds over the allowable 171-pound limit, but he would make weight after the official ceremonies. His opponent, TUF 9 cast member DaMarques Johnson initially weighed in at 171.5 pounds, but stripped down and shed the half pound on his second attempt.

Next, WEC veteran Johnny Hendricks first weighed in at 172 pounds, which is one pound over the allowable 171-pound limit for his welterweight bout against UFC newcomer Ricardo Funch. He then weigh-in at 171.5 pounds on his second attempt, but stripped down and made weight on his third attempt. His opponent, Funch, followed suit, as he first weighed 171.5 pounds but stripped down and made weight on his second attempt.

UFC 107 is headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between current champ BJ Penn and challenger Diego Sanchez. Penn came in right at 155 lbs, while Sanchez initially weighed 156 pounds but stripped down and made weight on his second attempt. Despite having a hard time losing weight, Sanchez never lost his intensity, as he engaged very heated staredown with the champion, Penn.

Afterword he was asked to give his thoughts on the match up and Sanchez stated, "I have only two words... one word -- destiny."

In the co-main event, former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will take on French striker Cheick Kongo. Mir looked bigger then ever as he weighed in at 264.5 pounds and Kongo came in at 239 lbs. The animosity between Kongo and Mir appears to be reaching a tipping point, as Kongo didn't even look at Mir during the staredown and turned his back on him.

Other bouts on the main card include a very interesting lightweight tilt between Clay Guida and Kenny Florian. Also, Paul Buentello makes his Octagon return to take on up-and-comer Stefan Struve in heavyweight action and top-five ranked welterweight Jon Fitch will face UFC sophomore Mike Pierce.

Also of note, a middleweight bout between Alan Belcher and Wilson Gouveia, which is the night's featured preliminary card bout, was changed to a 195-pound catchweight bout prior to the weigh-in ceremony. According to MMAWeekly, Gouveia asked for a 190-pound catchweight limit, but Belcher gave a counter-offer of 195 pounds, stating he was already at 195 pounds.

Gouveia tipped the scales at 193lbs and Belcher weighed in right on target at 195lbs.
