The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Thursday revealed the post-fight drug test results for nine of the 20 fighters who competed on the UFC 108 fight card, which took place on Jan. 2 at The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
All post-fight drug tests came back clean and included the following fighters: UFC 108 main event fighter Rashad Evans, Junior dos Santos, Paul Daley, Sam Stout, Jim Miller, Martin Kampmann, Mark Munoz, Jake Ellenberger and Rafaello Oliveira.
Evans and fellow UFC 108 main event participant Thiago Silva were also tested prior to the event in December during their training camps as part of the NSAC's year-round, out of competition drug-testing option. Both men passed.
The above mentioned UFC 108 fighters were randomly selected. However, athletic commissions typically test the main event fighters and fight night winners, as well as those who have failed tests in the past.
The tests screen for as 'drugs of abuse' such as cocaine, marijuana and heroin as well as anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs.
The UFC 108 main event saw former UFC light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans notch an unanimous decision win over Thiago Silva. In the co-main event bout, welterweight contender Paul Daley scored a brutal KO win over Dustin Hazelett. Daley also walked with an extra $50,000, as he was awarded "Knockout of the Night" for his efforts.
Also featured on the main card, rising heavyweight contender Junior dos Santos scored an impressive first round TKO win over the debuting Gilbert Yvel, Sam Stout and Joe Lauzon earned "Fight of the Night" honors for their three round lightweight battle, and lightweight prospect Jim Miller earned a first round submission win over the returning Duane Ludwig in the opening bout of the PPV televised card.
