The date for UFC 113 has been changed. No longer will the Montreal-based even take place on May 1. Instead, UFC President Dana White has confirmed its move to May 8.
While still taking place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, UFC 113 was postponed by seven days, White told Yahoo Sports that the reason for the move is not to clash with a boxing match. The boxing match - potentially between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Shane Mosley - does not have a date scheduled yet, but the pay-per-view event may land on May 1.
White has made it clear that while he is a fan of boxing, he still has some issues with how the sport is run on a professional level. By changing the date of UFC 113, it avoids any confrontation with boxing promoters.
The UFC event will be headlined by the much-anticipated light-heavyweight rematch between Lyoto Machida and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua. In their first encounter, which went to a decision, the judges ruled that Machida had won the bout. However, fans, including White, felt that Rua had beaten Machida and captured the light-heavyweight title.
Recently, Josh Koscheck has confirmed that he will fight in the co-headlining bout against rising British star Paul Daley in a very heated welterweight clash. Other match ups that are set to take place are a 170-lbs. fight between Marcus Davis and Jonathan Goulet; a bout between former TUF 10 contestants Kimbo Slice and Matt Mitrione; and a middleweight show down between Patrick Cote and Alan Belcher.
