UFC 98 News and Notes
by Jacob Camargo on May 24, 2009

UFC 98 is officially a wrap and here are some interesting tidbits that came out of the post-fight press conference for the event:

-UFC 98 drew an attendance of 12,606 spectators for a live gate of $3.2 million, according to UFC president Dana White.

-Matt Hughes, Matt Serra, Lyoto Machida and Brock Larson each earned $60,000 "Fight Night" bonuses for their outstanding performance at UFC 98.

Hughes and Serra earned "Fight of the Night" honors for their back and forth welterweight tilt; their bitter fued came to a close as Hughes edged out Serra in a unanimous decision win. Machida took home "Knockout of the Night" for his impressive and stunning knockout over former UFC light-heavyweight champ Rashad Evans. "Submission of the Night" went to Larson via arm-triangle choke over, last minute replacement Mike Pyle, during the first round of their preliminary fight.

- UFC president Dana White announced that the UFC will return to California for the first time in two years (since UFC 76 in Anaheim on September 22, 2007). White targeted the Staples Center in Los Angeles on October 24 for UFC 104, which would be the promotion's first trip to LA since UFC 60: "Hughes vs. Gracie" in May 2006.

UFC 104 will be the promotion's eighth event held in California, that includes events in  Sacramento and San Diego.
