UFC fighter Chris Wilson and family safe after home invasion
by Jacob Camargo on May 15, 2009

“As I came into the apartment complex, a guy held me up at gunpoint and then he called his friends. And then a total of five people came up to the apartment. They were armed and my family was in the bathroom - I’ve got two kids - so it was just a terrible situation … they cleaned out whatever they wanted. They were after small stuff, but they took our TV and my laptop, and jewelry. And they took some of the kids’ clothing and Nike tennis shoes, which are expensive down here … Then they put everything in my car, made me take them somewhere. It was just terrible. Wasn’t sure if I was coming back from that one. But it all worked out. I've been training, I'm ready to fight. It's just that kind of thing is a little bit heavy on your shoulders."

-UFC welterweight Chris Wilson talks to Slam! Sports about the horrific ordeal he and his family experienced in Brazil. Wilson currently resides in Brazil with his wife, who is Brazilian, and his two children. Wilson has spent the majority of his life living there as his parents were Baptist missionaries in the country.

Wilson is currently putting in the final preparations for his upcoming fight against Brock Larson at UFC 98 after dropping a "Fight of the night" affair to John Howard at UFC 94. The Team Nogueira fighter is now 1-2 with the UFC, with a loss to top five welterweight Jon Fitch in his UFC debut and a win over Steve Bruno at UFC 87. An IFL and Sportfight veteran, Wilson has been fighting professionally since 2003 and holds notable victories over Rory Markham, Pat Healy, and Jay Hieron
