UFC newcomer Dave Herman meets Joey Beltran, not Rob Broughton at UFC 131
by Tim Groves on March 31, 2011

Dave Herman (20-2) and Joey Beltran (12-5) will square off at UFC 131, the UFC announced earlier today.

UFC 131 will take place on June 11th in Vancouver, Canada.

It had been originally reported that Herman would meet Rob Broughton at UFC 131 in his promotional debut. The UFC did not mention a reason for the change in opponents.

Herman recently signed with the UFC after being released from his contract with Sengoku. The only true loss on Pee Wee's record is a 2009 TKO to Choi Mu Bae. The other blemish on his record is a disqualification for illegal knees against Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Outside of the disqualification to Sokoudjou, Herman has won five straight fights.

Beltran enters the fight on the heels of two straight unanimous decision losses to teammates Pat Barry and Matt Mitrione. The Mexicutioner had won his first two bouts in the UFC. Beltran has shown to be a very durable opponent with very heavy hands. He had Barry in multiple hairy situations in their fight in January before eventually losing the decision.

UFC 131 is headlined by a heavyweight title eliminator between Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos.
