Following his second straight loss in the organization, nine-fight UFC veteran Jonathan Goulet has reportedly been released from his contract with the UFC.
Goulet is the third fighter to released from the UFC following a loss at UFC 113, though the Canadian's release isn't as high profile as the previous two. UFC President Dana White stated following UFC 113 that former YouTube street-fighting sensation Kimbo Slice was cut from the promotion for his poor performance in his loss against Matt Mitrione.
White also revealed that hard-hitting British welterweight Paul Daley was cut from the UFC for his sucker punch against Josh Koscheck after the final bell in the last round of the night's co-main event.
Goulet exits the UFC after suffering back-to-back losses to Mike Swick via first-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 16: "Fight for the Troops" in December 2008, and then suffering a second-round TKO loss to Marcus Davis at the aforementioned UFC 113 event on May 8. Goulet previously won three straight fights, including wins in back-to-back UFC fights against Paul Georgieff and Kuniyoshi Hironaka.
Goulet leaves the UFC with an overall 4-5 record, with other Octagon wins coming over Jay Hieron and Luke Cummo, while suffering other UFC losses to Duane Ludwig, Josh Koscheck and Dustin Hazelett.
Since making his pro debut in December 2001, Goulet has fought for other notable promotions such as TKO, SuperBrawl, King of the Cage and Extreme Challenge. He sports an overall MMA record of 22-11 (1 NC), with 19 of his wins coming by stoppage.
"The Road Warrior" holds other notable career wins over the likes of Kyle Jensen, Jeff Joslin, Travis Galbraith, John Alessio, Tony Fryklund and Shonie Carter.
