Ultimate Fight Night 20 viewership: 1.7 million; 2 million peak
by Natalia Baage on January 14, 2010

Ultimate Fight Night 20 proved to be a hit as it pulled in 1.7 million viewers to Spike TV on Monday, Jan. 11.

The viewership peaked at 2 million for the main event event between Nate Diaz and Gray Maynard (Maynard walked away with a split decision victory). This bout was rumored to have title implications. However, after the fight, UFC President Dana White said that he was not sure if Maynard was ready for a fight with B.J. Penn yet. White later granted the title fight to Frankie Edgar.

According to MMAJunkie.com, the previous Ultimate Fight Night, UFN 19, which took place in September 2009, earned 2.5 million viewers. However, UFN 20 did not have many big names, except for Maynard, Diaz and, arguably, Chris Leben. UFN 19 boasted Roger Huerta, Maynard, Melvin Guillard, Diaz, Nate Quarry and Carlos Condit.

Ultimate Fight Night 21 will take place on March 21. Featured match ups include: Brandon Vera vs. Jon Jones, Clay Guida vs. Sean Sherk, Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Junior dos Santos, and Anthony Johnson vs. John Howard.
