Rising, undefeated lightweight prospect Dave Jansen will next face newly-signed French lightweight Bendy Casimir at WEC 46 in January. News of the bout was first reported by groundandpound.de.
WEC 46 takes place on Jan. 10 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and will be headlined by a WEC lightweight title unification bout between WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner and interim title-holder Ben Henderson.
Jansen was successful in his recent WEC debut, scoring an impressive unanimous decision win over former WEC lightweight champion Rich Crunkilton at WEC 43 in October. Prior to entering the WEC, he competed mostly for SportFight and M-1 challenge events.
Jansen has put together an undefeated 14-0 MMA record during his young two-year career, with nine of those wins coming by stoppage. He is a is a longtime wrestler who competed for two years at the University of Oregon and now hones his MMA skills at the renowned Team Quest.
Casimir (19-5-2) is 15-1 in his last 16 bouts, most recently defeating Maratbek Kalabekov at ProFC: "Russia vs. Europe" in March. His only loss during the successful stretch came against Takashi Nakakura in November 2008.
During his eight-year career, Casimir has competed for other notable promotions such as Shooto, M-1, Cage Wars and UK's Cage Warriors Fighting Championships. He has finished 15 of his 19 career wins, including 12 by submission, and holds a notable career win over current UFC lightweight Andre Winner
