"I'm gonna do some big fights here and see how I do at 135, but I've got to be mindful of my teammates. I'm not going to fight Joseph Benavidez. I really believe he's gonna be the world champion after this next fight, but there are some big fights for me at 35 and we'll see what happens." -Urijah Faber
Urijah Faber dishes on his intentions for the 135-pound bantamweight division. The former WEC featherweight division champion recently announced that he would be dropping from the 145-pound limit at featherweight to move to bantamweight after 3 hard-fought losses in his past five fights.
Faber was defeated twice by former champion Mike Brown, before being outclassed in his last contest by current champ Jose Aldo.
Faber currently trains with Joseph Benavidez, who is fighting for the bantamweight title in his next outing, and the two are considered close friends. Benavidez is considered among the very best bantamweights in the world and a match up with Faber would entice fans from a technical perspective, but that fight appears extremely unlikely.
There are still big match ups for Faber at the weight-class however, as he would make interesting fights with current champion Dominick Cruz (who he already holds a win over), and former champions Brian Bowles and Miguel Torres.
