Velasquez Didn't Feel Comfortable in Win over Stojnic
by Gavin Vincent on February 12, 2009

Velasquez said he felt uncomfortable and felt that his timing was off and not really there. He tightened up and didn't have a lot of head movement like he wanted. Cain didn't want to throw and back-off against Denis Stojnic and said he needed to relax more in order to accomplish better accuracy and more pop in his punches.

"I just wasn't really relaxed out there like I said before I just need more ring time." - Cain Velasquez

That's the attitude that is going to someday put Cain at the top of the heavyweight ladder. Although he put on a great show and nabbed $30,000 for his efforts, his eagerness to improve and learn from mistakes is what makes a champion.

Joe Rogan immediately denoted Velasquez's remarks during his post-fight octagon interview saying Cain put on a great fight and cannot wait to see him in the octagon soon.
