Veteran Scott Smith signs six-fight contract with Strikeforce
by Gavin Vincent on October 05, 2009

Scott Smith isn't about to end his career on a loss as the 16-6 veteran re-signed with Strikeforce today. He lost to Nick Diaz in June 2009 by rear-naked choke after receiving several stiff jabs from Diaz. Smith extends his career by six fights and is scheduled to return for the unnamed Dec. event, which will air on Showtime.

No opponent has been named, but Mike Roberts, Smith's manager, assures Fanhouse that Smith will fight before the year's end. Since being called "fat" by Frank Shamrock, Smith has openly expressed interest in fighting the aging legend.
