Chael Sonnen might be coming off of a big win at UFC 109, but he currently has politics on the brain. Recently, he spoke with Fox News to discuss his plans to run for a seat in the State Legislature.
The middleweight fighter is looking to "come out ready to go," and win a seat in Oregon's 37th district in November 2010.
Sonnen stated that his platform is to create employment, help stimulate the economy, and protect the education systems. He has done much work behind the scenes in the political ring, including helping other campaigns, and working to pass a bill.
Sonnen's win over Nate Marquardt last weekend put him in top contention for the middleweight belt. While Demian Maia has been named as a quick replacement for Vitor Belfort, who is out with an injury, Sonnen will face with winner of Anderson Silva vs. Maia, who will fight on April 10.
