Kurt Pellegrino was forced out of his Dec. 5 fight due to injury. However, prior to his withdrawal, he had been training with MMA strength and conditioning coach Kevin Kearns.
Pellegrino (14-4) was set to fight Frank Edgar at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale. He wrote the following message on his official website on Nov. 1.
"I just wanted to let all my fans know publically that I was forced to withdraw from my upcoming fight on Dec 5th vs Frank Edgar. My back has been a problem since my last fight vs. Josh Neer and I did not give it the proper rest it deserved and I am now dealing with 3 herniated discs in my back."
Pellegrino said that it took him "over a week to come to terms with the fact that I would have to pull out of this fight. I've never pulled out of a fight before, so it was difficult for me." In the past, he has fought with knee and hand injuries, to name a few.
He is expected to take another month off from training to let his back get its needed rest and rehabilitation.
His former opponent, Edgar, is now set to fight Matt Veach at the finale.
