Video: UFC 117 extended preview
by Natalia Baage on July 28, 2010

Will we see a new middleweight champion soon? Chael Sonnen has implemented his best trash talk in order to hype the fight, while title holder Anderson Silva has mostly remained mum, looking to prove his skills in the Octagon.

The fight will be a classic take on the striker versus the wrestler, and will showcase both fighters' best abilities.

Anderson Silva (26-4) has beaten all of his middleweight opponents in the UFC: Chris Leben, Rich Franklin (x2), Nate Marquardt, Dan Henderson, Patrick Cote, Thales Leites and Demian Maia.

Chael Sonnen (24-10-1) is currently 10-2 in his last 12 fight, and impressed fans with his most recent three-fight winning streak, amassing wins over Dan Miller, Yushin Okami and, most impressively, Nate Marquardt.

In addition, Junior dos Santos will battle Roy Nelson - the winner of which will become the number one contender for the heavyweight title and will fight the winner of Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez. Hall-of-Fame star Matt Hughes will also take on the Gracie-product Ricardo Almeida.

UFC 117 will take place on August 7 in Oakland, California, and can be ordered live on pay-per-view.
