Former PRIDE champion and current UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva gave his thoughts on the upcoming UFC 106 event, predicting the winners of the main and co-main events.
For the main event, Silva chose Forrest Griffin to come out victorious over Tito Ortiz in their rematch. He implied that Griffin has grown as a fighter, both in stand up and on the ground, and will prove to be a tough opponent for the returning Ortiz.
As for Josh Koscheck vs. Anthony Johnson, Silva said that he believes that Johnson will pick up the surprise victory. While Koscheck is a great fighter with lots of experience, he said, Johnson has an advantage because of his size.
Silva (32-10-1, 1 NC) is next set to face Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 110 in Feb. 2009. The bout will mark Silva's debut in the middleweight division. In the UFC, Silva has fought mostly in the light-heavyweight division; however, his most recent fight - a unanimous decision loss to Rich Franklin that won Fight of the Night honors - was fought at a catchweight of 195 lbs.
UFC 106 will take place this Saturday, Nov. 21, in Las Vegas, NV, and will air live through pay-per-view.
