M-1 Global's current light heavyweight champion, Vinny Magalhaes, is unhappy with his position within the promotion and looks to make a UFC return according to bloodyelbow.com.
Magalhaes recently defended his M-1 light heavyweight title from Mikhail Zayats, winning in the third round via TKO. Despite winning his fourth bout with the promotion and holding their light heavyweight title, Magalhaes believes that he is on the wrong end of favoritism from M-1.
"After re-watching the whole fight, I just realized that every time I fought for M-1 against a Russian fighter, I was the hand picked guy... I mean, I am assuming that after seeing one of the M-1 directors rooting for my opponent every time he'd hit me, but not having any reaction when I'd hit him nor when dropped him. Thanks M-1, I appreciate your business, you can have your belt back," Magalhaes said.
As a result, Magalhaes looks to return to the UFC. Magalhaes is perhaps most well known for being the runner up in The Ultimate Fighter's eighth season, losing to Ryan Bader in the finale. A following loss to Eliot Marshall at UFC 97 dropped Magalhaes to a 0-2 record with the UFC and was cut from the promotion.
However since his release, Magalhaes has rebounded with a 7-1 record which includes his four bouts with M-1 Global, improving his record to 9-5 and one no contest overall.
"Hey @danawhite, how many more wins do i need? @ufc in 2012 for me?"Magalhaes said through his twitter account.
Whether or not Magalhaes makes a return to the UFC remains to be seen but with his recent record of 7-1, he can certainly make argument for returning to the Octagon.
