Reports out of Brazil have former Affliction: "Trilogy" combatant Vitor Belfort taking on the well traveled Moise Rimbon at Bitetti Combat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sept. 12.

If true the news puts rumors of Belfort's impending UFC signing in jeopardy.

Belfort (18-8) was originally slated to face countryman Jorge Santiago at Affliction: "Trilogy" on August 1 before the promotion was forced to cancel the event and fold its MMA operations. The resurgent UFC legend is riding a four fight win streak and is undefeated since dropping to middleweight from light heavyweight where he knocked out Terry Martin and Matt Lindland in successive fights for Affliction. The former UFC champion, was rumored to be entertaining an offer from the UFC and many expected his signing to be announced by the UFC, along with 20 or so other former Affliction fighters, at a press conference this Friday.

If true, however, this news essentially kills any deal with the UFC at this time as the organization only operates under exclusive contracts.

Rimbon (14-8-3) is coming off a win over Denis Komkin at Hell Cage 3 in March and is now 3-1 in his last four bouts which include wins over Anthony Perosh and Peter Graham a loss to top-ten ranked Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. The French fighter has 10 wins by stoppage and holds notable wins over Alex Stiebling and Roman Zentsov.

The Brazilian source, Journo de Brasil, also states that Paulo Filho, who was originally set to face Alex Schoenauer, will instead square off against UFC veteran Edwin Dewees.

The card is expected to be formally announced at a public event in Rio de Jeneiro by the cities governor on Aug. 3.
