Following WEC 42, promotion officials announced the recipients of the $10,000 "fight night" bonuses. The bonus amounts were the same amount handed out at WEC 41 in June.

Newly crowned WEC bantamweight champion, Brian Bowles, earned "Knockout of the Night" honors for his stunning first-round victory over former bantamweight champ, Miguel Torres. Bowles rocked Torres with a crushing right hook that put Torres on his back and followed Torres down, finishing him off with a succession of punches that rendered Torres unconscious.

Benavidez and Cruz earned "Fight of the Night" honors for their back and forth bantamweight bout which saw Cruz earn a future shot at Bowles with a unanimous decision victory. And Rani Yahya earned "Submission of the Night" honors in the evening's lone submission stoppage. He finished off his opponent, John Hosman, in the first-round via north-south choke.
