The Nevada State Athletic Commission yesterday issued out twelve medical suspensions to fighters who competed on the WEC 42 fight card. The event took place on August 9 from the Joint at The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
From the list of WEC 42 fighters issued medical suspensions, seven were victorious at the event, including main event fighters Brian Bowles, Leonard Garcia and Danny Castillo.
WEC 42 main event participant Brian Bowles, who defeated Miguel Torres to capture the WEC bantamweight title, could be facing a lengthy suspension unless his hand injury is cleared by an orthopedic doctor. Torres was also issued a medical suspension and will be out until October 9 with no contact in training until September 24 for precautionary reasons.
Beside Bowles, Danny Castillo and L.C. Davis also face lengthy medical suspensions that require doctor's clearance. Once the individuals get clearance, their suspensions expire and they can compete. If they aren't cleared by a doctor their suspensions will run until February 6, 2010.
