The WEC has confirmed that the previously rumored featherweight bout between Mark Hominick and Deividas Taurosevicius will complete the line-up for WEC 43.
Hominick and Taurosevicius were initially set to fight at "Affliction: Trilogy," before the promotion folded earlier this month.
Hominick has not fought since defeating Savant Young at Affliction: "Banned" last July. In his previous stint with the WEC, he went 0-2 suffering submission losses against Rani Yahya and Josh Grispi. The longtime TKO veteran has stoppage victories in 13 of his 16 career wins and holds notable wins in his seven-year career over the likes of Yves Edwards and Jorge Gurgel.
Taurosevicius is coming off a loss to Ryan Schultz at an IFL event last May. Prior to the loss, he had been on a six-fight win streak, which included wins over Dan Lauzon, Savant Young and Bart Palaszewski. Out of his 10 career wins, 8 have came via submission. The Cage Fury Fighting Championships and Reality Fighting veteran holds a notable loss to UFC contender Frankie Edgar.
WEC 43 takes place on September 2 in Youngstown, Ohio and the main card will be telecast live on VERSUS. The event is headlined by a WEC interim lightweight title bout between Donald Cerrone and Ben Henderson.
Other bouts set to be featured on the main card include a lightweight fight between undefeated prospect Dave Jansen and former WEC lightweight title contender Richard Crunkilton, as well as a bantamweight bout between Damacio Page and Akitoshi Tamura. Lightweights Alex Karalexis and Anthony Pettis will also square off on the main card.
