"I think Werdum is the perfect guy to beat Cain Velasquez. I think if Velasquez takes down Fabricio, he will handle him, like he handle Fedor. If Fabricio earns a titleshot we'll get another Brazilian champion in heavyweight division. I think dos Santos would be a tougher opponent for Werdum than Cain. I really think that Velasquez is the perfect opponent for Fabricio. If this fight goes to the ground and even on the foot he has the advantage. One of the greatest weapons is his knee, Cain is a 'little' guy for the category. If Werdum holds him in the clinch and hits him with the knee, anything can happen. He has a chance to finish and even knock out Velasquez." - Wanderlei Silva via Tatame
Former Pride middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva explains why he believes Fabricio Werdum is Cain Velasquez's kryptonite.
Werdum, an Abu Dhabi submission wrestling champion, is 5-1 in last six bouts. Over that span the Brazilian jiu-jitsu guru has defeated the likes of Mike Kyle, Antonio Silva, Fedor Emelianenko, and Roy Nelson.
In his last bout, Werdum faced Mike Russow at UFC 147. Heading into the contest, Russow was riding an impressive 11-fight winning streak, but Werdum made quick of the UFC veteran by knocking him out in the first round.
Werdum last defeat came back in 2011 at the hands of former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum.
Werdum is currently scheduled to meet mixed martial arts legend, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, at TUF: Brazil 2 Finale scheduled for June 8.
