“I believe Anderson would destroy Belfort. I think it’s a very interesting fight. Belfort has good boxing skills and is a good athlete, but everybody knows that he has a weak psychological aspect and I think he will shake when he gets in the Octagon with [Silva]. Let’s see if [Belfort] will put his new karate … I mean old karate, new for him, in practice against Anderson.” - Wanderlei Silva
Wanderlei Silva talks to Sherdog.com about the UFC middleweight title bout between reigning champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort. The middleweight title bout between Silva and Belfort has been verbally agreed upon by both men for UFC 108 on Jan. 2, 2010.
Wanderlei decided to go with his former Chute Boxe teammate, Anderson Silva, for the win over Belfort. Wanderlei and Anderson recently mended fences during the UFC 102 weekend last month. The pair had been bickering publicly after Wanderlei announced his intention to move down to the middleweight division, which didn't sit well with the UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva.
Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva has also recently made his intentions known on wanting a rematch with Vitor Belfort now that both men are under the UFC banner together once again. Belfort defeated Silva via TKO in just 44 seconds in Oct. 1998 at UFC: "Ultimate Brazil."
