Wanderlei Silva has joined the masses who have predicted the winner of Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio Rua. Silva believes that Rua will take the fight via decision.
"Finally, it's time for the revenge of the century," Silva said in Portuguese in a video blog from his website wandfightteam.com. "Shogun vs. Lyoto is a fight that no one can miss. It's hard for me to say anything because I'm great friends with Shogun. I'm cheering for Shogun. I'm friends with Lyoto as well. I like him and I respect him and admire him as a fighter, and outside the ring, he is a great example to all of us."
The first encounter between Machida and Rua took place at UFC 104 last November. After a close fight, Machida kept his belt. Moments later, back stage, UFC President Dana White offered both men an immediate rematch, which they both agreed to.
"The fight has everything indicating that it will go to decision again," Silva continued. "Lyoto makes it very difficult to knock him out, he escapes well and moves very well. He lands good hits, and he knows this time he will have to go after it more."
Machida, who captured the light-heavyweight belt in May 2009, is known for being an elusive counter-striker who uses relies heavily on his karate practices to win fights.
"He won't be able to repeat the same game from the last fight because if it's a similar result as last time, I have no doubt they will give it to Shogun," said Silva. "The last fight was polemic all around the world. So Lyoto knows he will have to do more to win, which makes this fight much more interesting."
