Welterweight Brock Larson let go by UFC
by Jacob Camargo on November 25, 2009

Following his second straight loss in the organization, six-fight UFC veteran Brock Larson has been released from his contract with the UFC. Larson confirmed the news to MMAjunkie.com today.

"It's probably a good thing," Larson said. "I was having a hard time getting motivated for my last two fights. I needed a change. The undercards just didn't do it for me."

Larson also mentioned in the the report that he's interested in fighting for Strikeforce and Japanese promotions such as DREAM or World Victory Road.

Since returning to the UFC following a 4-1 stint in the WEC from March 2007 to August 2008, Larson went 2-2 in the UFC in what was his second stint with the promotion. He scored impressive back-to-back first round submission wins over Jesse Sanders and Mike Pyle. However, things would take a turn for the worse when he dropped consecutive match-ups against Mike Pierce and most recently Brian Foster at UFC 106 on Nov. 21.

Larson exits the UFC with an even 3-3 record, going 1-1 in a previous stint with the promotion in 2005 and 2006, where he scored a victory over Keita Nakamura after dropping his UFC debut to Jon Fitch.

The longtime Extreme Challenge veteran sports a 26-4 overall MMA record, with 23 of those wins coming by stoppage, including 18 by submission. He has picked up other notable wins in his seven-year career over the likes of DaMarques Johnson, Erik Apple and Ryan McGivern.
