"The Kansas City Bandit" will not be given a chance to redeem himself after losing in his UFC debut, as welterweight Jason High has been released from his contract with the UFC.
High revealed the news of his UFC release on his official Twitter account.
"Received my UFC walking papers today, one door closes another opens....you know how the saying goes." said High in the post.
High signed a four-fight contract with the UFC in February, however, the UFC tends to let fighters go early who are on losing streaks and have suffered consecutive losses as with the case with High, who has lost two straight.
High suffered a unanimous decision loss in his Octagon debut to fellow UFC newcomer Charlie Brenneman at UFC Fight Night 21 on March 31. As previously mentioned, the loss was High's second straight, with a previous loss coming before he joined the UFC against current DREAM welterweight champion Marius Zaromskis at DREAM 10 in July.
High has fought for other notable promotions such as All Fighting Championships, Victory Fighting Championship and Gladitor Challenge. He has put together a solid 9-3 MMA record over his four-and-a half year professional career, with seven of his nine wins coming by stoppage.
High holds noteworthy career wins over James Giboo, Kevin Burns and Andre Galvao; while suffering his only other career loss to Strikeforce welterweight contender Jay Hieron at Affliction: "Day of Reckoning" last January.
