Even though Marcus Davis is on a two-fight losing streak, the UFC has decided to keep him around, as the veteran welterweight fighter has signed a new four-fight deal with the promotion according to MMAWeekly.com.
According to the report, Davis is expected to return to action in the Spring, however, he has not been approached by the UFC about a date or opponent.
Davis has lost back-to-back fights against Dan Hardy at UFC 99 in June and then he suffered a devastating first-round knockout loss at the hands of Ben Saunders at UFC 106 last month. The knockout loss to Saunders was actually the first time Davis had completely lost consciousness in 19-years of professional fighting.
Prior to the losses, he had won two straight fights against Paul Kelly and Chris Lytle. Davis has put together a 8-4 UFC record in 12 fights with the promotion, with other notable Octagon wins over Paul Taylor, Shonie Carter and Pete Spratt.
The 36-year old former boxer actually started his UFC career as a cast member on the second season of the Ultimate Fighter. He has put together a 16-6 record over his six-year professional MMA career, scoring stoppages in 13 of his 16 career wins.
