The WEC on Tuesday announced a late change to its upcoming WEC 49 card, as former IFL star Chris Horodecki now faces promotional newcomer Danny Downes on the televised main card portion of the event.

Horodecki was originally slated to face Ed Ratcliff at WEC 49, however, Ratcliff was reportedly forced off the card due to an injury.

Though not revealing anything, Ratcliff first announced his departure from WEC 49 on his official Facebook page.

"I wanna say sorry to all the fans, family, and friends for having to pull out on such late notice," said Ratcliff. "Even more importantly I wanna appologise to Chris Horodecki for going thru all of that hard work and not getting the final release u deserve. I wish u the best. Sorry everyone.!!!!!!"

Horodecki (13-2) is coming off a loss in his WEC debut against Anthony Njokuani at WEC 45 this past December. Prior to joining the WEC, he won two straight bouts over Nate LaMotte and William Sriyapai.

During his five-year career, Horodecki has also competed for Canada's TKO promotion, however, he made waves in the MMA world after putting together a nearly perfect 8-1 mark with the now-defunct International Fight League promotion, scoring notable wins in the organization over Shad Lierley, Ryan Schultz and Bart Palaszewski (x2).

Downes most recently defeated Bruce Johnson via first round TKO at KOTC: "Turbulence 2" in April. He has been competing professionally for nearly three-years, fighting for other promotions such as Evolution Fighting Championships, Gladiators Cage Fighting and Gladiators Cage Fighting.

Downes has put together a perfect 6-0 MMA record since turning pro in October 2007, with all but one of his six wins coming by TKO. He is a Duke Roufus-trained fighter, training with the likes of WEC lightweight contender Anthony Pettis and UFC heavyweight Pat Barry.

WEC 49 event takes place on June 20 at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and it will be the promotion's Canadian debut. The event will be headlined by a very interesting lightweight bout between rising contender Kamal Shalorus and former lightweight champion Jamie Varner.
