Yushin Okami - Jason MacDonald Winner In Line For Possible Title Shot
by Paulo Silva on October 12, 2007

A UFC 77 middleweight bout between Yushin Okami (20-4 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Jason MacDonald (19-8 MMA, 3-1 UFC) could earn the winner an immediate title shot, UFC president Dana White said.

According to a UFC 77 media conference call, White said that the winner of the fight between the two middleweights and newly acquired Dan Henderson are in line for a shot at the winner of Anderson Silva - Rich Franklin for the UFC’s middleweight title.

While White admitted that the two could be in line for a shot, he seemed less than enthusiastic about these two in a conference that may be the organizations thinnest.

“I’m not sure yet,” White said. “Those guys are definitely in the mix, though. Dan Henderson could drop down, as well.“

Henderson for his part, says he'd rather fight at 205 pounds rather than drop to the middleweight limit of 185.
